How A Golf GPS Will Improve Your Game

One of the most difficult things for the average golfer to do is judge the distances of various parts of the golf course. Judging distance is crucial if you plan on shaving strokes off your score. This is where a good golf GPS unit will give you a definite advantage.

Let’s say you have just hit a nice shot right down the middle of the fairway and the marker tells you that you are 140 yards to the middle of the green, however the flag is to the left and in the front of the green. There are also 2 sand traps bordering the green but you can’t see how big they are from where you lie. What do you do? You make your best guess and swing away.

However, if you own a golf GPS unit that has the course you are playing available, not only will you know how far it is to the green but some golf GPS’s will even tell you what club to use. Either way know the exact distance to the flag and the hazards now gives you a much better chance of shaving off a stroke.

As good as many golf GPS units are they can’t help you swing correctly, they can’t make you hit the ball straight, and they can’t keep you out of the hazards but they can tell you everything you need to know in order to have the best chance at par, birdie or even eagle.

Most golf GPS units will allow you to hook up to your computer and download hundreds and some even thousands of golf courses so that no matter where you are you will have the course map at your fingertips. So regardless of where you want to play you can take out your golf GPS unit and have all the information you need about the course you are playing.

The days of walking a course (if you are a professional) are darn near over. Any notes that a pro might take on this walk are no longer needed as the golf GPS units have it all installed already. Golf GPS units will definitely improve your game.
